There were vampires in my city
They all arrived with a packages of dreams
Ambitions, hopes and strong beliefs
The voices before us calling them to be free

My parents met at the airport bar
They loved Brazilian jazz and knew how to party
But setting boundaries not their strong suit
So my grandma gave me solid structure and stability

There were vampires in my city
The rush of meeting those hungry kindred spirits
Same types, same souls, same bumpy rides
Released from the sticks and stones of the bullies

There were vampires in my city
The sharp eyes, witty remarks and the sweet smiles
Experiencing new hands and highs
Missing the bus because I wandered in the moonlight

There were vampires in my city
Rearranging and investigating its geography
What strangers in our mirrors mean
You’ve got a pair of eyes girl don’t get blinded by ideas

(And me along for the ride getting stuck in a ferris wheel at midnight)

There were vampires in my city
The mornings radiated softly on my skin
The one place where hurry the fuck up is not a sin
An invisible string pulled me back in

There were vampires in my city
Aspiring to become more than they could ever be
Speeding and chasing after their destiny
Elbowing their way up the maze called meritocracy

There were vampires in my city
Off to the races forever competing and scheming like demons
Mixed with the calm chaotic energy of the nepobabies
And people on the streets with puppies

There were vampire in my city
I never listened to my driving instructors properly
Somehow always drove us off the road into the swirling beauty
Until one said we’re going to work on this ADD

There were vampires in my city
The girls I trusted sometimes had the most toxic bite
Could disappear on you overnight
Leavingat crooked tables without saying goodbye with the fines

(And me along for the ride at Mr & Mrs Watson chewing vegan cheese endlessly)

There were vampires in my city
Sipping rosebud tea with a dirty chai latte monkey
Just trust yourself and stay on track said philoso P
Dancing and street haunting with a millionaire called Rosie

There were vampires in my city
They had everything but still seemed dissatisfied
Whole extravaganzas made by spoilt rotten minds
The best opportunities but discussing inner conflict and fights

There were vampires in my city
They always had new plans but most of the projects stranded
Endless battles over the right amount of concrete
So everything will always remain under construction forever

There were vampires in my city
The old and worn out ones were pretty chill and funny
Debating together known each other forever
The buildings can’t get renovated without the bats getting new nests

There were vampires in my city
My mum said this cup of chaos will never end: we’re in way over our heads
She was born right next to café Back To Black
The international architects lunching in the parks and running from the rats

(And me along for the ride passing the parrots and getting my grandma her morning coffee)

There were vampires in my city
The Jewish girls said stop whining and put on your red lipstick
Don’t you forget about me and never stop dancing
Your ancestors, trust those footprints

There were vampires in my city
My skin often had to mend and become twice as thick
But as I walked out of the station at midnight I smiled a little bit
Heard the shattering of invisible glasses as I threw daggers over my head

There were vampires in my city
Lizzie wrote you’ll never guess what the fuck just happened!
Screamy face concluding a perfect marketing pitch
Together in another new experimental coffee corner trying to make it

There were vampires in my city
They said you better keep running or you’ll be left behind
But I still saved a bruised birb from cars and fatbikes
He kept pecking me on the way to the vet with thunder in his ass

There were vampires in my city
Brothers with overbites looking so brooding on their covers
They almost blinded me when they smiled
Macrons with Maya between her persian rugs and artefacts

There were vampires in my city
I climbed the steps and made it back to the blue skies
The taste of espressos and cheesecake was right
Fungus flourishing in cellars because it’s sinking like Atlantis

There were vampires in my city
Healing from the lies and the goodbyes took some time
But the barren cold is the place where I can breathe
Where I can always continue my story

There were vampires in my city
The skyline at night with the flickering lights
The florets dwelling in the parks peacefully
A breath of fresh air and new chapter mending me

(And me along for the ride arriving in oversized stuff for work somewhere in the outskirts)

Somehow I’m always landing on both feet
And I’m feeling so celestial with the wind blowing in the trees

So take out your notebook and tell me what you see
